Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art

The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art Las Nevada is the only official art museum in the city. Located on the UNLV campus, the museum features rotating exhibitions of contemporary art, Pre-Columbian artifacts from the Michael Braunstein Collection, and an extensive research library with a special focus on Meso-American art and culture. Located in downtown Las Vegas, the Neon Museum preserves historic signs from long-gone businesses. The museum’s outdoor exhibit uses projection mapping, animation, and thunderous sound to tell the story of each sign. The museum also offers special events and tours. The Shelby Museum is dedicated to Carroll Shelby and showcases more than 30 Shelby Vehicles. The museum offers free, self-guided tours of the exhibition. There are many other outdoor attractions in the city. For example, the nearby South Point Casino Arena is a fun place for families to hang out. Although this venue isn’t free, it’s worth a visit, even if you’re not a fan of horses. There’s also an outdoor sculpture installation by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone that’s free to visit.
For those interested in art, the arts district is a must-visit. Art galleries and studios are situated in The Arts Factory, an old warehouse converted into a venue for the arts. The Arts Square, which also includes the Vegas Theatre Company, has art galleries, bars, and even events. If you’re looking for souvenirs, make sure to visit the arts district on First Friday. There’s always something fun going on.

While you’re in town, don’t miss out on the Ethel M Chocolate Factory in Henderson. This factory offers tours and samples of chocolate made by famous chocolatier Ethel Barrick. The Botanical Cactus Garden is another highlight of the city. This cactus garden is the largest in the Southwestern United States. Regardless of the weather, a visit to this museum is sure to be fun and educational.
