What can I expect once we get started?

We have a process called on-boarding which is is broken down into three phases:

Phase One: Getting organized – We come to your office to begin the initial clean up phase. We resolve immediate IT issues, deploy security software, provide staff training, start an inventory of your software and hardware, label all computers, and begin building a report you will receive after completion.

Phase Two: Protecting the data – While onsite during phase one we will install our backup server which is a physical device plugged into your network. We identify where your data is located, install backup software, and begin backups. Before we make any changes we fully backup your data so your business is protected from data loss.

Phase Three: Best practices – Once your data is backed up we begin cleaning out your entire network. This is different for each customer but involves us finding security holes and bad configurations that will lead to future issues. Depending on the size of your business this could take days up to weeks. You will receive a detailed report of the items we find during discovery and the progress of each item until we are complete

What if I am switching from another IT provider?

This is very common and something we have done hundreds of times. It is never easy saying goodbye, but at the end of the day we are all professionals. We have never met an IT company not willing to communicate, even if they are losing your business. The only thing we actually need from the old IT provider is any passwords and data you don’t have. In some circumstances we need to communicate with them if you had services such as email and hosting with them, but in most cases all we need is the passwords.

During the on-boarding process we will make sure the old IT vendor is locked out and any passwords they have changed.

What passwords do you need to start?

Here are the passwords we need to get started:

1. Existing firewall/router.
2. Admin password for your server.
3. Admin password for your email system.

During the on-boarding process we will also get passwords such as your domain registar, the PIN for your internet provider, and anything else IT related.

What if I don’t have my passwords?

We will work with your old IT provider to obtain all passwords. If they are unwilling to help, we would contact each vendor (QuickBooks, GoDaddy etc.) and begin the process of gaining access.

Will Desert IT have a learning curve on my network?

We are staffed with locally trained professionals holding industry recognized certifications such as Microsoft MCSE, Cisco CCNA, and Apple experts. Our learning curve is more on the personalities of your team and not the technical aspects of your network.

How do you ensure a smooth switch over?

Before any changes are made, we perform full backups of your entire system. This approach ensures your systems can be fully recovered before any changes are made. We are experts in this area and can make sure risk is reduced in every decision made.

How long will it take to respond to my requests?

What if I want your team to come onsite and fix?

We always attempt to fix the issue remotely first. If we are unable to resolve the issue remotely, we will come onsite to your office to resolve the issue.
